Increase Online Traffic Using A FREE Web Log

By Elizabeth Clark

If you have a website online or merely just browsing the Internet you'll either need traffic or, guess what? You are the traffic others are waiting for. So what is traffic? Just imagine the Internet as a major Freeway; the lanes on the freeway are different networks people are using.

One lane could be Comcast, MSN, AOL, Qwest; these are all lanes on the highway. Imagine the cars as millions of people traveling down the highway. Now guess what the exits are? Websites or weblogs! And guess what your desired goal should be? To get as many cars to YOUR exit as possible.

Now when I say I'm going to teach you how to increase online traffic FREE. What I'm actually saying is I'm going to show you how to point more cars to your exit. Now this alone can cost you mega dollars if you have no understanding of a simple technique called "keyword optimization!"

I'm not claiming to know everything or to be the only one with the Holy Grail on how to increase online traffic. But I will show you a simple nontechnological technique to draw FREE targeted prospects to your website. I will keep this short and simple due to time limitations I leave my contact information for more detailed questions.

I want you to know I'm gearing all my information to affiliate products because this is what I prefer to sale. Because with affiliate products there is usually no startup costs. You also receive a free affiliate link from the owner of the product. I usually sale affiliate products from clickBank.com in your spare time check them out it's worth it!

Now unless you have money for mega advertising that's good! But for the average affiliate marketer, this is not the case. You see the whole reason behind affiliate marketing is saving time and money! Now here is where your cost comes in, and you're trying to avoid extra cost, right?

Now unless you want to spend money on pay-per-click advertising? Which is very effective by the way. For more information with pay per click, visit (adwords.google.com or enhance.com) but for free traffic you'll need a plan, first of all.

Now your plan should begin with the proper (keywords) for the product you're trying to sale. Example: if you're selling apples your main or primary keyword should be apples. But this keyword is too general meaning competitive. Because there are literally thousands of people selling apples online. As a beginner you must work your way to the top.

Your goal should be to start at the bottom and climb to the top of your particular product market. So for your keyword you want to describe your product. So your keyword or key words should be (Little red shiny Apple).

You can find search tools online revealing the type of (apples) keyword searches people are looking for. These free tools show you exactly what people are typing into Google, Yahoo and Alexa search engines. When looking for apples. If you want to increase online traffic a tool called freekeywords.Wordtracker.com is a tool you'll need.

For other free tools simply type into any search engine the words "free keyword tools" with these keyword tools just type in the name of any product you're trying to promote, and see what people are typing in the search engines to locate your product. Then locate the keyword phrases that best describe your product starting from the bottom.

These 3 word or longer keywords are called (longtail keywords). For more effective use of keywords visit: goodkeywords.com. To increase online traffic starting from the bottom will give you the competitive edge. Goodkeywords.com has free tools and powerful keyword information.

Finding the right keywords will be fairly easy using these above websites. Now let's change our ugly affiliate website link to a website link that matches our primary keyword. In our above example (apples) was our primary keyword. And "shiny little red Apple" is our long tail keyword.

Now affiliate links do not look pretty. These links are designed to credit you for your sale of a particular product. ClickBank.com affiliate links look like this: http://candyc77.apples.hop.clickbank.net my tracking affiliate code is candyc77. I get paid through this code.

Let's make this link more presentable to search engines and viewers. A great website at http://www.shortURL.com will allow you to make your affiliate link look like this: Apples.2fortune.com instead of the ugly long coded original affiliate link. Also giving you a .com highly ranked link for only $1.88 a year.

Now that you have a nice looking affiliate link and a list of valuable "Long tail keywords" let's find a better traffic vehicle to use. And guess what this vehicle is? It's called a web log better known as a blog. You can get one free at www.blogger.com or WordPress.com.

A Web log is just like a website but only better. It's free and it contains RSS feed. When you sign up for your free Web log you can learn more about RSS feed. Just know this, search engines love RSS feed.

Just remember it's easy because it's already installed and search engines LOVE RSS feed. Now once your new blog is set up you want to talk about your affiliate product using your primary, secondary and Long tail keywords.

Remember to increase online traffic you must start from the bottom if you are sort of new to advertising with weblogs. For example, your primary keyword (apples) is too competitive for the beginner. Your secondary keyword example: (candy apples) is still too competitive for the beginner.

You have a smaller click through rate using "longtail keywords" but there are so many to choose from and these clicks add up. Words with 3 or more phrases "longtail keywords" is where you want to start. (Little red shiny Apple) is our example long tail keyword the beginning point for free online traffic.

Now with the pleasing URL: Apples.2fortune.com you received from the website: http://www.shorturl.com which disguises your ugly affiliate website link: http://candyc77.apples.hop.clickbank.net which is now plugged into your new weblog. In your blog, describe your affiliate product using your longtail keywords. You will have the competitive edge to increase online traffic using a Web blog, a .com website URL, and long tail keywords.

Now if you really want to increase online traffic once your web blog is up and working and you are making posts daily or weekly. Visit: http://www.technorati.com this website keeps track of ALL web blog's. By clicking on blog on their website you can view the blog's that are related to yours. Learning from others is always an advantage. Don't forget the homework of studying the above websites I gave you.

Find your market and see what others are talking about! There you have it, this is a general guideline, due to time constraints. But if you follow these simple procedures you will see a increase in online traffic. Again using good Long tail keywords and a Web blog will give you an advantage.
