How Personality Spices Up Your Copywriting

By Million Dollar Mike Morgan

I love this hoagie place a few blocks from my office called Franklin's Hoagies. They make a pretty killer cheese steak... but the best part is the people who eat there.

It's always a fun and satifying lunch. And the star of the show is the proprietor, Larry.

Larry is expert at polarizing the patrons. His big persoanlity just oozes. (And even if you hated him, you'd still grab a hoagie... they're that good.)

This guy has an opinion about EVERYTHING. And if you don't share it... all the better. Need to know who to vote for County Commissioner.... he'll tell you. Like Muscle Car's... well you better have a Chevy. His soapbox is always ready for him to hop aboard!

And I love the fact he never harbors a grudge... even if you don't agree with his point of view.

It's hard to get a seat there sometimes. I mean... the place is hopping. And it's all because of Larry. People just love his larger than life personality. Check out what his sign in the window says...

"Come on in and eat something before we both starve!"

What a character. Hey... this place has been going strong for 32 years... so you better check out this secret that will boost your copywriting and internet marketing chops!

OK, back to the lesson

How much personality have you seen in the hundreds of marketing messages you've been exposed to today?

Not many I'll bet. But the ones that used it effectively will be the ones that come to mind.

If you want to make your ad's more memorable, inject a little... even a lot of personality. Don't be scared to polarize your readers. In fact, I'd prefer to cull the herd early on and make a splash from the get-go because the readers who remain will be the most likely buyers.

I have an old saying

"When you try to be everything to everybody, you'll end up being nothing to nobody!"

Ummm... ok. Maybe that wat what my grandpa used to say... But the point is inject personality into your email marketing, website copy, even opt-in pages. Once you do, you'll build more loyalty, sales and word of mouth than you ever dreamed. That's a fact jack.

When you develop a friendly relationship, you may be surprised because

When people "get" you... you become a long lost friend that people love to buy from

Your personality will go a long way to building a stronger, more real relationship. And when you do that, people will become fans for life.

Ask any top direct response marketer... this stuff works.
