It Takes A Special Person To Fill A Nanny Job

By Adrianna Noton

Looking for someone to fill your Nanny job isn't always easy. These are your children and finding someone to care for them the way you do will be impossible. Most full time working moms have the difficult task of finding someone to take care of their kids. It may take some time but with a little patience, you can do it.

When focusing on finding a person to care for your kids, you first need to determine what you are looking for. Determine if this is a full time or part time job. Do you expect her to cook and clean as well as take care of the children. Decide if you will want her to be living in your home or will she work from nine to five. Determine if you are looking for someone to become part of the family or strictly an employee.

When that has been determined, start looking. You can advertise or call the Nanny agency in your town. The nice thing about an agency is that these people are educated and skilled in the profession, and usually have all their background checks completed. If there is a problem, you have someone to call and talk it out with.

If you have decided that you need twenty four hour care, then you are looking for a live in Nanny. This is going to be a whole different set of circumstances, rules and salary than if you are expecting an eight hour a day Nanny. Working out the salary and living arrangements is something the both of you would need to discuss and compromise on.

If your expectations are to have someone that is available on a twenty four hour basis when you have to leave town on business, then these are special circumstances that she will need to understand comes with the job. Make everything clear up front, so both of you know what to expect, and you are not left without a caregiver if you have to leave town.

Having someone come in and care for your children on a regular schedule will take some time to get use to, as these are your children and it can be very difficult to fully trust someone. But in time, if the relationship is good and communication is open, you will build a strong and trusting relationship with the person that you are entrusting them to.

Offering a trial period once you have hired someone will provide a chance for both of you to see if the position is going to work out. You will have expectations that need to be met and if she falls short of that, it is better to know now than later. The person you hired may also have some problems with the way things are working out. This provides both of you a little time to see if the chemistry is going to work.

Finding a good, reliable person to fill the nanny jobs in Edmonton will take some time and maybe a little work, but with persistence, you will find the right one for yourself and the kids. Just remember that you are the employer and have the right to have your expectations met. If there are any issues to be worked out, take care of it immediately. Try not to let anything drag on. This will only cause trouble and tension between the two of you.
